The Rock's Latest Gear Collection Is Here to Push You to Make Progress
While gym closures due to the pandemic have been tough on many strength training fanatics, fans who like to use The Rock as inspiration have had to be even more patient. Dwayne Johnson has undoubtedly been hitting his Iron Paradise gym incredibly hard during this period—he has his upcoming superhero debut in Black Adam to train for, after all—but he made a point not to share out too much footage to his followers, as was his habit before lockdown orders began. Johnson previously said that he’s hesitant to share workout footage because most people don’t have access to any type of gym right now.
“I don’t take any of this for granted, I’ve been a lucky son of a bitch for years to have my own gym,” he said last month in a video post explaining the fitspo drought. “It would make me feel like an asshole if I was like, ‘hey guys, what an amazing workout, look at this gym, phenomenal, how are your workouts coming along?’ I’m not gonna do it, I’ll let other celebrities do that shit, it’s not my style.”
But now, he’s ready to pull back the curtain and share how’s he’s training with his new Project Rock collection, which launches today through Under Armour. He posted a flashy new workout video to announce the drop—the first such footage in several months.
Johnson is clearly looking to inspire his fans to push through any struggles they’re experiencing right now, even after his break from workout fitspo.
“Training is my anchor, my fuel, my medicine, my release, my essential,” Johnson said in the Instagram video post to announce the drop. “And while the world has changed, and we’ve changed with it, I know that together we’re all going to come back better, stronger, and hungrier because progress begins with us. It’s taking that first step. Completing that first rep. We hold on to what anchors us. We work, and we break through. The only way is through the work.”

The new collection includes a new colorway in the brand’s popular Project Rock 2 shoes, as well as new tops, shorts, and jackets for men, women, and children.
A portion of the proceeds from the collection will go towards Team Rubicon, a non-profit backed by Johnson, which “serves communities by mobilizing veterans to continue their service while leveraging their skills and experience to help people prepare, respond, and recover from disasters and humanitarian crises.” Under Armour didn’t disclose exactly what percentage of sales will go to charity, but did state that the contribution “adds to Under Armour’s recent initiatives related to COVID-19.”
Johnson’s previous Project Rock collections have also supported Team Rubicon, and have benefited veterans through other charitable organizations like the Fisher House Foundation.
