Your Favorite Black-Owned Nude Lipstick Is Now At Target
When Mented Cosmetics first erupted onto the beauty scene in 2017, the Black-owned brand created a shockwave in the industry. It offered much-needed nude lipsticks formulated for women of color, who typically struggle with finding the peach, pink, and brown hues that work for their skin tones. In just three years, the brand has greatly expanded its product offerings into the face and eye categories with products like the Skin Silk Loose Setting Powder and Everyday Eyeshadow Palette. And now, the inclusive makeup brand is available to shop at Target.
Fans and newcomers to the brand can officially shop for the perfect nude lip at the nationwide retailer. So far, the brand's Lip Liners, Semi-Matte Lipsticks, and Lip Glosses are being offered.
Mented's pigmented Lip Liners retail for $10 and come in nine different nude shades, like the chocolate brown Night and mauve LaLa. The liners can be used alone or with one of the other lip products to create a gorgeous nude lip look.
Similar to the liners, the Semi-Matte Lipsticks are available in nine shades — primarily brown hues — that each have different undertones to ensure they flatter a range of skin tones. Each lipstick glides like butter on the lips to deposit gorgeous pigment that is super hydrating and comfortable to wear throughout the day. The $15 lipsticks are so nice that we had to give the shade #5 (a deep brown hue with the perfect mix of purple) a 2020 Best of Beauty Award.
The brand's $13 Glosses look gorgeous when worn alone or with other lip products. Available in seven shades, they add the perfect amount of shine and color to the lips. Create a gleaming neutral lip with the deep tan hue Send Nudes or the deeper chocolate Baby Brown.
Though Target is only offering a few lip products from the brand at this point, we can't wait to see when the rest of the line will roll into stores. Back in July, the retailer even made it easier for its consumers to shop Black-owned beauty brands by creating a label for the Black-owned brands it carries. Mented Cosmetics surely won't be lonely alongside brands like The Lip Bar, Honey Pot Co., and Black Girl Sunscreen, also available at Target.
